Our SONET networks are designed as self-healing Synchronous Optical rings that provide high reliability and bandwidth levels of OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, or OC-192. Our SONET ring architecture, including sub-rings, is designed to provide increased reliability and functionality to eliminate downtime of any fiber network outage. Dedicated SONET ring service provides automatic protection switching to help ensure 100% availability of the services on the ring.

Windstream provides managed services such as FICON that is used exclusively with computers based on the IBM z/Architecture, commonly called mainframes. FICON and its predecessors are the only protocols sufficient to communicate with traditional mainframe peripheral devices. We have the expertise in providing FICON as a managed service and offer more than just bandwidth.

Windstream provides managed Fibre Channel service and this technology is used for transmitting data between computer devices at data rates of up to 4Gbps. Fibre Channel is especially suited for connecting computer servers to shared storage devices and for interconnecting storage controllers and drivers.
